When I was touring around Italy, it was suggested that I visit the famous Italian coastlines of Cinque Terre and Almafi Coast. Both are on the west coast with Almafi southern. Here are maps of where Almafi Coast is located.
There were 5 areas that I toured around in. I arrived in Salerno by train then took a bus from Salerno to Sorrento around the coast. I stayed in Piano di Sorrento and took the train to Sorrento, Pompei and Napoli. I was very brave (and was adamantly discouraged by locals and tourists), and rented a car to drive to Postiano and Almafi. It was scary and exhilarating all at the same time.
